I have now read this book three times.I reas this when it was originally published on the web, and was happily surprised to find out that it was being compiled into novel form. I jumped at the chance to order it, first the individual parts, then the omnibus. The writing is phenomenal and emotional. While told entirely from David's perspective, the writing is so good that you never have to wonder what Daniel is thinking or feeling. Daniel SHOWS it to David, and, therefore, the reader.This is truly a fairy tale of the best kind.I have completely fallen in love with Daniel and David (and let's not forget Ian, Justin, Gordon, and Tall Paul.) David is the nerd, accustomed to being on the bottom rung of the social ladder. He struck a chord with me, I related to him and his situation more than any other I've read. While I may not have had the depth of his intelligence, I had certainly felt what he did in high school.Daniel is the jock, David's knight in shining armor. Everyone wants a Daniel in their life. Someone willing to go to the ends of the earth to show the person they love how they feel.Circumstances throw these two together, and from the beginning, there is a palpable connection.Even the minor characters have the chance to shine, most especially Ian. I lived the character from the moment he was introduced.I am ecstatic that there is a spin-off, as well as a sequel to this one. I found that I NEEDED David and Daniel together. I NEEDED them to have a happily ever after. I NEED them to get through High School, and through College, to be married and have children. Hopefully, the sequel will bear that out, because fairy tales always have a happily ever after.
